Sources Interpretation
by Ellen Lee

<Introduction>
  I bought a Costco membership card in Korea and I moved to Canada. U.S., Mexico, Japan etc, also have Costco. I can use a Costco membership card in any country’s Costco. Where is Costco Wholesale Corporation from? It is located in Washington in U.S. it’s not a Korean company and not a Canadian company either but I can use Costco in Korea and Canada too. It is an example of globalization. What is globalization? I think it is like assimilation of people all over the world. They use their own country’s production and also other countries’ production of phones, TVs, foods, resources and sometimes technology too.

-Body 1 : Globalization-
First Source is an excerpt, that talks about how the globalization can affect us individually and also collectively. There are three different types of globalization in the world. People can be affected by economic, social, and political globalization. An example of Economic (and political) globalization can be FTA in South Korea. In 2007, South Korea officially started FTA(Free Trade Agreement) with South America. In Free Trade, two countries can trade with each other without any limits. For example, Tariffs, quotas, taxes and other stuff to trade are lifted. Through this, South Korea got lots of positive effects like decrease in tariffs and could get legal services from law firm company in U.S. The negative impact could be lead to the farmers who harvest crops. At that time, South Korea had to import rice from the U.S but, they no longer have to import it from U.S and it gave lots of problems to farmers who harvest rice because importing rice from the U.S was cheaper than rice made in South Korea. You need to remember to discuss the source and the main question. Is globalization making our identities the same? This would be a good place to mention relationship to the land as a feature of identity. Social globalization can be like people in different countries going on such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. People in the world are also affected by Social Globalization because for example, people in Canada listen to Oppan Gangnam Style, and they also watch movies that are mostly made and filmed in America. This whole green section could be moved to your next paragraph about the Sesame Street logos. The real point of the next source is that it is media that is being spread around the world. You discuss that here in referring to Psy and American movies. Multiculturalism can is an example of social globalization also, because as people who have different identities, cultures, race live together, they get to share them and get to know about different cultures and etc. Negative effects of social globalization could be lead the loss of individual rights to their own lifestyle and their culture. Globalization is everywhere and everyone is affected by it either in negative and positive ways, and everyone if part of it.

-Body 2 : Sesame Street Logos-
Actually I didn’t know what ‘Sesame Street’ was before I googled it because I never watched ‘Sesame Street’, It is not a popular broadcast for Korean kids, although it was broadcast in twenty countries and it has over 120 million viewers. If I have to prove how to understand what it is, I’ll answer “although it is not popular in Korea, Koreans know what is it and who characters like Elmo and Cookie monster are in ‘Sesame Street’.” This is good just take out that first part and your quotation marks. But it is a true that ‘Sesame Street’ is internationaly broadcast and an example of media convergence. What is Media convergence? It is an intersection of old and new media. When ‘Sesame Street’ started to broadcast in twenty countries, the twenty countries had their existing broadcast I think their existing broadcast became old media and ‘Sesame Street’ became new media.  By doing so, people in twenty countries which started to broadcast ‘Sesame Street’ can watch old and new media both. It is an example of media convergence. Our definitions of media convergence are not the same. Media convergence is when a business owns multiple media companies and has them work together. For example: If a Movie company owns a TV network and a magazine they would be able to advertise for their movies and their TV network in the magazine. They could advertise for their movies and their magazine on TV. They could also tell people their opinions in all three.If it comes from many places people begin to believe it is a fact rather than just opinion.
